Elmo first appeared in 1980 when I was 9. He became more regular later on though (85?) but I'll never forget the sense of betrayal I felt for Grover.wease wrote:Elmo was a bit after my time, but yes.BurtReynolds wrote:yeah that was a dark time.Higgs wrote:Grover is the fucking truth, man. Tonight's debate seems like the most important vp debate in a long time. I had to look up Dole's runningmate.

It always seems like the most important of all time. We probably won't remember Pence in 10 years.elliseamos wrote:Tonight's debate seems like the most important vp debate in a long time. I had to look up Dole's runningmate.

I think it's obvious how I'd like it to go, but Pence did well against Kaine. His work tonight could sway some people.B wrote:I'm crossing my fingers for the opposite.elliseamos wrote:unless harris is awful and he's running for president in 2024.B wrote:It always seems like the most important of all time. Will people really change their vote based on a vice president debate? Is that a thing?

Re: Election 2020
Pence seems like a smart guy and I would trust him to do no harm and maybe goad Harris a bit. Harris will likely point her aim at the administration more generally, and keep making about the Trump missteps. This will likely be professional debaters who never fully address one another directly. A different kind of maddening from last week.

Providing an aura of legitimacy to the WH with those that can't bring themselves to fully agree to voting for Biden/Harris. She probably has the easier task (point out how bad things are), but I think I read it's been 10 years since she had a one on one debate.

Without the entertainment value of Trump's insane behavior or the tension of hoping Biden is able to finish each sentence without having a stroke this debate really has nothing to offer at all.
