The band has become the caricature that everyone claims that they are. It's really not good. The best we can hope for is that this passes unnoticed and people remember this band as the ones who produced Red Mosquito, Bu$hleaguer and Not For You
I never gave a fuck what people claimed PJ were, and still don't.

The more I listen to this fucker the more I think the band let Eddie down here. The music just doesn't rise to level of the vocals to me, not even close. Maybe the whole band was confused too. I fully expect them to perfect the power ballad on their next album.

Can anyone explain to me Pearl Jam's strategy here? Somewhat connected at rdio.com put the song up for multiple hours. It gets everywhere to major radio stations linking it to consequence of sound to stereogum and etc. A ton of Pearl Jam's big fans have heard it. So they try and pretend as if the leak never happened, get the song taken down, and then be like we're premiering it for the first time on sirius thursday! Wouldn't it have been smarter financially speaking for them to have taken command of the leak, putting it on iTunes, and giving every radio station the go to play it? Maybe even putting another song out. Bands like QOTSA and NIN (just to name a few) have countered leaks by putting up the stream on iTunes, where they know the hardcore fans will go for sound quality (at least before the album officially hits), and casual fans and possible converts will find it and maybe listen in. PJ is like Nuh uh we're totally premiering it on Thursday and oh by the way, we're revoking memberships for some of you. Anyway, great tune. 12 string sounds cool, Ed's on, and Matt is terrific as well. Reminds me of Pink Floyd's poppier stuff (Wish you Were Here, Mother, Comfortably Numb), a bit of Automatic for the People era R.E.M., Springsteen, etc. I think this could be a smash hit on rock radio too.

At this point in their career, I think the band is like "fuck it, we'll put Dead Kennedy's song and a Bryan Adams song on the same record and people will like it."

I really don't think the band cares what anyone thinks. They may even be just trying to weed out the die hard nutcase fans. :haha:

Hmm. True but if that's the case why did somebody either fall asleep at the switch or allow the song to go up period and for as long as it was up for?
