I don’t get to choose, but I would really prefer Gigaton 2 over another movie soundtrack from Vedder.

This band needs to capitalize on whatever creative muse carried them through that last album and deliver another one...please.

other than seeing them in person, i haven't listened to pearl jam live in probably 15 years.

I haven’t seen them live in 17 years, and never really cared for listening to live stuff at home, but I did just recently sit in a vr theater with my brother and watch a well-shot St Paul show from 2014 and was really surprised by how good it sounded.

THeyre aged but they sound good.

The band really still plays their assess off. Its ed that can really throw a bootleg listening experience out the window with his ranting and getting drunk.

But, overall, Pj still has it.

I don’t know if that particular show (10/19/2014, better than nothing videos on YouTube) is abnormally good or is just totally average. I’m not kidding when I say it’s been 17 years for me. But it hit me, my brother, and later my son and wife pretty hard. And I’m the only person in that group that’s ever spent money on a Pearl Jam record.

For whats its worth, my friend who was once obsessed with pearl jam but has since moved on (would fit right in on RM), thought that ST. Paul show was awful.

After test driving 6 other post-2010 shows and not being able to finish a single one, I dunno. This one show really hits me. I’d be thrilled to have it demonstrated to me that it’s not above average, because it sure compares well to the other ones I tried.

this show had the misfortune to fall right between the moline no code show and milwaukee yield show so it probably gets overlooked more than it should. but as you noted the denver show had a 'better' setlist- most if not all of the shows on the 2014 us tour had a better setlist if you're more than a casual fan, at least. the biggest disappointment i know i had with the st. paul show - a hometown show, the first here in 11 years, and where getting to sleep in my own bed afterwards was something i was really looking forward to - was that it was about as 'greatest hits show' as it gets. they sounded great because these are all songs they play all the time anyway. this show was a let down at the time, but i can't say when i listen to it now that it's a bad show by any means, i'm just not a fan of the most of the show being made up of their singles and concert staples.

I think the delineation here is that, because I haven’t listened to hardly any live stuff since 2004 (or been to a show since 2003), I don’t have any built-in exhaustions. A live version of Rearviewmirror isn’t much less fresh to me now than is a performance of Angel. So a live album that is a collection of greatest hits on paper, but contains incredible performances and where Ed is fired up and in strong voice, is a lot more gripping to me than is a mostly well-played, relaxed atmosphere No Code show.

The 2010-19 era practically made me a casual fan again, in a way, and this show is a fucking stellar show for blowing a casual fan away.

Totally know what you mean by this, but I will just chime in to say that the No Code show in Moline was one of the most electric audiences I've ever been in -- not a relaxed atmosphere at all, especially as the tension was building through those first few songs and people were gradually becoming more and more confident that they were actually doing what it seemed like they were doing, and then finally exploding once it became clear that they were. At the time there was no immediate precedent for them doing something like this, and then after the album sequence was done and they then proceeded to play another 10 songs or whatever, the place was completely juiced. The fact that it was a slightly smaller venue than usual for them really added to this too.

Not to take away from what you're saying, I know what you're getting at and mostly agree, but that night was just completely awesome. But then I'm a big No Code fan.

Lots of interesting tidbits about SVT but also about a VR version of Jeremy he talked with Ed about a few years ago when that actor died. Ed even talked with his mom.

So many things we really dont know about the band, im always surprised about.
