even in general exercise i just lose my breath so easily if i try to go hard...and jogging my legs start to feel like jello pretty quickly, and i even have thigh muscles now that i never have before

You're not controlling your breathing then. You should go at a pace where you can hold a conversation with someone if you wanted to. Even if that feels too slow. You build from there.

yeah i do that...i jog/walk with a co-worker sometimes and we're chatting on and off...same result
going 4 miles alternating jogging and walking my average heart rate was 170...that has to be the driving factor

How many times do you run per week?
on average probably 3 times...i stay out there an hour and just do what i can jogging wise...i try not to walk too slowly when i have to stop jogging, but i'm not sure that makes a big difference

Lenny's problem sounds more mental than physical. The first couple miles always suck until you get over the mental hump. You have to push through and get into the 4-6 mile range. If you never go farther than 1-3 miles you're just living in the suck zone.
But also like verb said, slow down. Go as slow as you need to without walking.
yeah i really don't see how it's mental when my heart is going 200 beats a minute, and my legs are giving out at a pretty slow pace...so what i'm saying here is, team dev...what i don't understand is why it takes so long to make progress...i could probably run 3/4th's of a mile right now, but i'd have to stop to recover for at least a minute before being able to walk a moderate pace
