Re: New Song (9.19.13): Sirens
I've come to the conclusion that I would have liked this quite a bit as an album closer. But 2nd single, 4th track on the album? Pfft.
Also, I'm really looking forward to hearing Ed's voice shatter when he tries to hit those high notes live.

I can listen to this and recognize that it's hummable and whatever without feeling anything the same as I can a Rob Thomas or Sheryl Crowe song. I can even understand why someone would call themselves a Sheryl Crowe fan. There's just nothing about that particular type of music that offends or moves me whatsoever.
I saw a comedian a looooong time ago who had a big to-do about his ex-wife. Part of it was about how great she was at tearing him down, and the big example was her telling him "when you're inside me, I feel nothing."
There's a very, very tiny sliver of musical styling that actually fails to affect me, and unfortunately this one lands well inside the green.
When this song is inside me, I feel nothing.

as a Pink Floyd fan, i'm quite offended when musicians or people in general associate the PF sound with reverb, echo, and mid-tempo songs. go listen to Interstellar Overdrive or A Saucerful of Secrets motherfuckers.

Um, I used specific song examples, I'll have you know. They did some wishy-washy midtempo and it sounds quite like this.mastaflatch wrote:as a Pink Floyd fan, i'm quite offended when musicians or people in general associate the PF sound with reverb, echo, and mid-tempo songs. go listen to Interstellar Overdrive or A Saucerful of Secrets motherfuckers.
