Yes. That is what a conspiracy theory is. Creating and believing false narratives like “the Dems are organized child molesters, and my candidate is actively putting an end to it.” That is a conspiracy theory. And since Republican voters have fielded two vocal QAnon supporter Congressional candidates and primaried one of their own in favor of a Q candidate at the state level, and since the signs and the words and the lens the theory applies keep emerging at the national level, I don’t think “but partisan politics exists” negates the worth to us observing, acknowledging, and tracking the spread of such a theory.

Manipulation aside, few take a survey thinking "I better answer these questions honestly. This is for science!" They know they are trapped in a game where the only value that matters is sheer quantity. You win the game by making the poll look like your team has majority. That's it. That's literally all it is.

And that's ignoring the old ladies who just want someone to talk to and wish their ungrateful kids would call them every once in a while.
