Other than Pearl Jam, who else is there?

one Minute You're here works at both ends of the record. I like how it opens the record as a bit of a meditation that sets the stage for whats next to come.

Okay, finally finishing this. I’ll start by saying I quite like this album, but maybe a different perspective than I expected or maybe didn’t.

On first listen, what I am hearing is an album that doesn’t serve to push the Springsteen narrative necessarily to the next phase, unless that phase is a way of looking back at all that’s been. This album is contemplative of Bruce’s journey in multitudes. There are song that directly address the ghosts and spirits of his past, and songs that harken back to different times in other ways - like how Janey Needs a Shooter and If I Was the Priest are contemporary deliveries of a dynamic sound that traces back to his early work. Other songs like Ghosts call back in lyrics but also in to his post E Street reformation sound.

As such, this album is more a collection of sounds he’s already explored and placed together. I think it is far more coherent and engaging in first listen than given credit. It’s instant satisfaction, unchallenging Springsteen in that regard and that could certain disappoint some who yearn for him to push his next envelope. He sounds great, and the band sounds like it sounds, but it all intentionally shows it’s age. Not gonna be a top 5 or 10 even Springsteen album, but it certainly serves its purpose.

This album is really solid. There are a few tracks I'd cut maybe. But which tracks those would be will likely shift and change as I continue to absorb the record.

Right now, I like it more than Western Stars, which I know is controversial. I'm not a huge Boss fan but this seems to embody whatever it is I guess I like most about his work.

The end of the record (the final 5 tracks) is SUBLIME!

Updated with Letter To You....340 songs ranked. It's bonkers, small issues with the list here and there but in general its not half bad.

Bruce has a lot of bad songs. This would be a daunting list to make.

I was immediately irritated that "Queen of the Supermarket" wasn't #340. Had to settle for #330. That song feels like he made a bet with someone that he could write anything and people would still buy it.

Someone explain to me what This Hard Land is doing at #11. Its a perfectly "fine" song but seems about 100 spots too high.

I do appreciate the love for The Promise (18 Tracks version)...one of my low key favorites.

Man. I would love to hear a Springsteen album produce by Jack Antonoff.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

It stopped being the E Street Band to me when Clarence died. It could survive SVZ leaving but not the loss of Clarence. Still a stellar band even without Clarence.
