Here in my neck of the woods every single long term care facility is in outbreak status. Most of these facilities have anywhere from 60-100 residents, many of whom are dying or at minimum, suffering for weeks on end. Within 5 miles of me that's at least 1000 vulnerable people, plus staff, hospice workers, etc. Multiply that by extended family who are indirectly impacted by it (by acting as power of attorney, planning and attending memorial services, or at least hearing about it), and that's easily 10,000 people whose families are being impacted by Covid. Nobody's changing their tune. Sides have been chosen.

Reading things like this is so frustrating. I am very sympathetic to many of the right of center arguments but putting loyalty to a person who clearly doesn't give a shit about anyone above overwhelming evidence is just bananas.

They should really start breaking down the deaths as follows:

maybe wait until New York and California death tolls are surpassed first, for maximum political points.

The natural progression of this thing fanning out to rural areas after starting in cities is perfect for the political narrative that has formed.

Political narratives are all around this thing. Admitting that doesn't make you a virus hoaxer

I prefer the narrative that cities are filthy, disease ridden blights on the landscape.

It's really pointless to reference the numbers that have never been even remotely accurate.

Illinois has tested like 7.8 million people since this started. Insane amount of money and for what?

I also have it on pretty good authority that JB is going to shut down the state after the election. Nothing like taking public health guidance from a 400 pound out of touch billionaire. Shutting down the state with no federal relief money is not the answer.

Holy shit. We almost hit 100,000 cases yesterday. Guess we're back into that exponential climb phase.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?
