My uncle is eating solid foods again!

They might even see how he does without being on oxygen tomorrow.

Saying an exact case number is dumb. Just say things remain "bad" and will get worse before they get better.

I would say an almost 20% increase in new cases isn't just "more bad" but significantly worse. Different from quibbling over whether we hit 90k or not.

Do you believe our (admittedly massive) testing caught every single case today? We need to focus on metrics that actually matter.

For example, not knowing how to keep this out of nursing homes has led to a huge proportion of the deaths. But hey, we found out some asymptomatic person working from home caught it. Very helpful.

I was thinking about what would happen if this thing hit twenty years ago.

- You couldn't close down everything like we just did, since online shopping was in its infancy and nothing like uber eats existed.

- the spread would be much worse, but most of us would have no idea. You'd hear that your old sick great aunt died and that she was finished off by some particularly nasty flu or something. Then you'd go back to playing X-Box and waiting for 9-11.

It's no Spanish flu, which my phone just corrected to "slavish foot" and I was tempted to leave.

Just realized we are going to get a barrage of "9-11 remembrance" stories next year in some sad attempt at national unity.
