Yeah I agree with all of what McP said, and I shouldn’t have so clumsily implied I was downplaying those risks. I was mostly just trying to say that I believe that ultimately, Biden will prevail on the regular transition schedule. But yeah all this other stuff sucks, and will continue into his presidency.

He smirks like it was funny after he says it, but it’s no kind of joke for a SoS to be telling even in the best of times. It makes a joke out of election results in order to avoid a question into whether or not the Trump administration’s stonewalling could have a disruptive impact on national security if it goes on long enough, which...no, he didn’t answer.

To replace people you think won’t spend the next two months doing things you want them to do with people you know will spend the next two months doing what you want them to do.

The only other reason to bother with the change that I can think of would be if you for some reason hoped or thought that they’d get to stay on after the transition, and provide you with some lingering influence.
