Painted Shield (Painted Shield 2 on 4/22/22)

When a band is but a fraction of Pearl Jam, but they aren't zero Pearl Jam.

Easily my least favourite of the songs they've released so far but still interested in checking out the whole record.

Stone Gossard and Mason Jennings on Why It Took Six Years to Complete Painted Shield:
https://www.spin.com/2020/11/stone-goss ... interview/
The duo are already looking ahead past Painted Shields: They have four songs in progress for a second album with tentative plans to tour if touring resumes (Gossard has commitments with Pearl Jam for 2021). But for now, a six-year odyssey is finally complete.

“It just kind of continues to accelerate where there’s a bunch of stuff we’re working on right now,” Gossard says. “That’s going to be for another record at some point soon. I hope so because it’s coming fast and furious right now.”

Well at least it’s good to know it’s not just Pearl Jam records that take Stone years to complete.

Looking forward to this and haven’t heard anything but that first single once.

Time Machine is the track I'm enjoying the most out of the ones available so far. Looking forward to hearing the whole thing.

The band will be releasing their debut album in 2020 on newly reformed Loosegroove Records (owned by Stone Gossad). This will be the only physical version initially. It will include a bonus 7" of tracks not on the album.

Stone Gossard again confirms they have already started working on a second Painted Shields album and thinks it may be done by June next year. He also says they will do shows at some stage possibly 2021 or beginning of 2022.

Has anyone heard the Painted Shield Track by Track (SiriusXM episode on Monday 23rd November)?
I would love to hear that if anyone can share?

It is listed as an EP on Spotify and released Nov 6. I thought there were only a few singles that were released as part of a full album? I've avoided the singles because i wanted to wait for the full album. So im confused...

Full album out tomorrow (27th November) woo hoo!
The vinyl release also includes bonus tracks.

I can’t see anything labelled as EP on Spotify, it just shows the singles.

Legendary guitarist Stone Gossard opens up on his new project, Painted Shield; the pain of losing Chris Cornell and Shawn Smith; and the desire to make another Pearl Jam record that really shocks people…
I’m up for a Pearl Jam album that shocks... as long as it is shockingly good! No more lightning bolts!
Gigaton has given me hope that it is possible - time will tell whether it happens.

That was a really cool interview! Stone really sounds super fresh and exited about both this band and PJ. Gigaton seem to have awaken the whole band.
Its comforting to know he is always doing stuff.

And guys, im loving Ten Years From Now.

Listened to the full album this morning. Sonically it is the natural successor to Stone’s solo records. I loved the second half of the album more (Evil Winds!), but I liked all the songs on this. Really, really solid.
