Ok, so most of you have had about 24 hours with Sirens by now but no one seems to be able to name one single Pearl Jam that I can relate this to. Yes yes, I know it's completely different than anything we've heard from this band before. But please, someone just name me one other PJ song so that I may know what I'm getting into here.

Last Kiss? Parachutes? Last Solider? Just Breathe? Solider of Love?

Anything?

With Arms Wide Open.

But more Pink Floyd-ish.

Find my post in the Sirens thread comparing its structure to NAIS, but with entirely different styles. Other than that, I do genuinely think this is Black with all of the grunge-era shaken off. Whether it's as good as Black will take years to determine.

Imagine Last Kiss sounding more atmospheric and pink floydish (but Pink Floyd fans won't agree) and at the same times it's the most adult contemporary sounding song they've ever done. I already don't really agree with my description. It's hard to describe.

I don't get why there has to be a frame of reference at all?
You'll like it more cos it sounds like something you liked previously?

Can't it just be something new and totally different?

Which it is by the way.

I just think it's because people haven't heard it and want a frame of reference. So would I if I was excited to hear it but was holding off. Everyone's being quite clear it's pretty incomparable to everything they've done. That's probably why BO'B likes it.

Big picture, I'd say Speed of Sound is closest. But if you were to give someone a Mind Your Manners comparison track, what song would you pick that would actually give them some idea of what they were about to hear?
