I think most of Backspacer is good as well, it's just better on the record. Pop rock isn't good live PJ imo.Come Back in Black wrote:I like most of backspacer. Johnny Guitar is so unique and catchy with no chorus. love it live to. Speed of sound is a set killer though. Not in a good way.harmless wrote:Even Flow, GTF, RVM... and on and on, for me. Most of S/T works better speeded up imo. Backspacer stuff just doesn't work at all live.Come Back in Black wrote:I agree about NAIS. It does and im hoping speeding it up makes me like it better. It worked that way for me with do the evolution. hated the studio version but the slight increase in pace live made me get into the grove where i found the studio version plodding. I almost always am fine wiht them speeding up live except for evenflow. They have ruined the groove of the song with how fast they play it.harmless wrote:When does this not happen with PJ live. You should have nothing to worry about.Come Back in Black wrote:Since nothing ever really "happens" with this song... I really dont get why its so long. I think it would be fine 2 minutes shorter. But I think this song will be a "halfway skip" for me. After listening to about half of it... its like.. ok i got it. I'm good. on to next song. So its not a total skip.. its a halfway skip.
I cant imagine what it will be like burning 6 minutes listening to this live. they better pick up the pace. Like double speed
That said, I think NAIS is too long as well for similar reasons...

Totally, it is its own thing, and not overtly similar to anything in their catalog.McParadigm wrote: Which will bring you back to doh! doh! doh! doh!
It really is that....whatever it is that it is....though. Comparisons draw out to so many places that you can't really capture it by saying "Oh, it's just another song like..."
Personally I'm finding it a welcomed surprise, not least because it actually sounds like they've really tried to create a certain type of song, and they've fully commited to it - none of the self-sabotage that Ed used to do back in the day when they had a catchy song.

Bowing. This song is incredible, and this album is going to be something special I'm starting to think.sward wrote:So...have people bowed down to Sirens awesomeness yet? We getting there?

I have a feeling it will be available for those who pre-ordered the album (like with MYM).Walker Bait wrote:Hopefully someone will get a slightly better rip of this and gmail it.harmless wrote:Apparently 3pm ET.unLEASHed wrote:So, was the official release of Sirens pushed back for today??!?! i remember someone saying something about it...
Remains to be seen, but should be a good quality mp3 available at least.

Hmm. Be pretty disappointing if that's the case, but I can also see it playing out that way as well.Dr. Van Nostrand wrote:i dont think they will do all of that, i think they would have to sell it.LetMeSleep wrote:That would be nice of 10c.sward wrote:I have a feeling it will be available for those who pre-ordered the album (like with MYM).Walker Bait wrote:Hopefully someone will get a slightly better rip of this and gmail it.harmless wrote:Apparently 3pm ET.unLEASHed wrote:So, was the official release of Sirens pushed back for today??!?! i remember someone saying something about it...

I'll still hold out hope that a 10C member who pre-ordered, will see it in their profiles to download.

I'm not bowing. But I am learning to respect it, appreciate it, and enjoy it. I've moved quite a bit from my initial listens.HardTI wrote:Bowing. Fuck Pearl Jam for infecting me with the "I study your FAACE!.. The fear goes away... the fear goes away" and making me feel like a goddamn Belieber when I accidently start humming that shit in public

Yeah I just looked back at one of the reviews that had it listed as 5:37.harmless wrote:It's 5 minutes 40 or whatever it is, so yeah I think we're sure.jforte20 wrote:Do we know that the Sirens leak isn't a Radio Edit?

Pearl Jam would get shat on from a great height if they wrote 'Comeback Story' by Kings of Leon, and it might be the best song that band have ever written.

I can't see this EVER being a radio hit at this length. This would never be their "use somebody" as someone wrote yesterday. It's also no where near that catchy. Maybe that answers my question earlier about why its so long. Maybe they are like "ok we'll go with this sound but no chorus and we'll have it twice as long so it wont be driven into the ground by the radio".

No......seriously, please no.AllNiteThing wrote:bluestate wrote:Ok, so most of you have had about 24 hours with Sirens by now but no one seems to be able to name one single Pearl Jam that I can relate this to. Yes yes, I know it's completely different than anything we've heard from this band before. But please, someone just name me one other PJ song so that I may know what I'm getting into here.
Last Kiss? Parachutes? Last Solider? Just Breathe? Solider of Love?
Anything?
With Arms Wide Open.
But more Pink Floyd-ish.

Sirens is 5:41, it's 5:41 on the album, so there may be a shorter radio edit, but the song we got yesterday was directly from the album.harmless wrote:It's 5 minutes 40 or whatever it is, so yeah I think we're sure.jforte20 wrote:Do we know that the Sirens leak isn't a Radio Edit?
