Comparing games like Smash Bros. Ultimate, Mario Kart Deluxe, Mario Bros. U, Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze to any AAA Playstation 4 or 5 game, it doesn't seem like the same depth/quality to me.

You're right. Nintendo 1st party games have more quality.

Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze should have been $60? Super Mario Wii U re-release? New Mario All Stars doesn't even change the aspect ratio to fit modern TVs. These are the kinds of games I'm referring to. Haven't played the new Zelda yet but just feeling meh about Nintendo lately.

After watching a brief gameplay trailer for Demon Souls, I wholeheartedly agree.

I don't want to get into a whole console war thing with you guys. That's dumb. Just saying how I currently feel about Nintendo, especially now that I have a PS5. The quality difference is astounding and if a PS5 game is $70 it feels like Nintendo games, especially lazy re-releases from many years ago with no upgrades cost $60, it doesn't seem right.

Keeping games at full price is part of Nintendo's business model. They've done it for generations. There is a rumor that Switch Greatest Hits will be announced in 2021. I would expect BotW, Odyssey, Splatoon, Arms, and some of those earliest WiiU rereleases to be the first wave.

Price of the console notwithstanding, video games are extremely cheap given the hours of entertainment you get out of them.

They cost the same as they did when I was a little kid. That’s amazing. And they cost less than a ticket to a baseball game, let alone the price of beer.

I agree. To date, the most expensive retail purchase I made was $65 for Genesis or 32X games. That was in 1995. It's crazy that I'll finally surpass that, 25 years later, with my next PS5 game purchase.

I agree about re-releasing old games for $60 is absurd but the market clearly disagrees with us. Switch games sell very well.

Hyrule Warriors seems to be everything I dislike about playing Breath of the Wild.

I like wandering around the giant, quiet landscapes solving puzzles and strategizing small battles. I'm not very good at "gamer skills." I don't have fast reflexes, my fingers get mixed up on the controller, I'm always pulling my sword when I want my shield, I'm perpetually stuck in a crouch that I don't want to be in. I start yelling when I have to fight a blight.

I watch my kids play Hyrule Warriors, and it's all those fast-paced fights and none of the calm escaping into a beautiful world.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Oddly, I think the exploration/environmental storytelling of Soulsborne games is the best part of the genre.

Same here. The game looks kinda fun, but it doesn't really do much for me and misses all the things that I loved about BoTW. My wife downloaded the demo and my feelings were more or less confirmed after watching her play.

Yeah don't go into it expecting BotW. It's a completely different type of game that just takes place in the same world.

Finished Link's Awakening today. Sad it's over. Might go back and try to find all the sea shells.
