Although as it pertains to Covid, I never really understood the arguments that suggest democrats are playing politics with the virus. I’m never happy to defend the party but many democrats have done the unpopular things they needed to do despite the heat they knew they’d take. No response has been perfect but at least here in the northeast, I think they’ve done a fine job so far.
Compare the responses in Florida and California. The two govs couldn't have more different approaches but the results look pretty damn similar to me.

I'm sitting in the plastic encased porch of my favorite Mexican joint sipping a margarita. Lucky it's a warm December so far. It's quite cozy.

It's very likely that Texas has more cases simply based on the population difference alone. Testing numbers arent real.

I may be mistaken but for the movie company do they not test all their people daily, check temps and all that other stuff?

Is it a movie company having their office space under tents or an actual site for filming? Either way it looks bad

I’d say everyone needs to adhere to the same protocols, so she has a point.

Ok, I’m not arguing that. New York/NorthEast had a unique experience last Spring. Looks like some other places might see what it was like.

All I’m really saying is that Democrats have been more aggressive in issuing restrictions and mandates, despite it being unpopular. It seems unfair to say they’re “politicizing it.” Unless you think their agenda is to use corona to tank the economy and.... [conspiracy theory].

I don't think they're politicizing in the way you're thinking. I think it's closer to someone like Newsome thinking he has to act in order to save lives so just starts throwing shit at the wall. If mitigations fail, you can always blame the people. If you don't act and people continue to die you get the heat and nothing to absolve yourself.

There is a part of me that agrees that people are just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. But I think Newson is taking politically unpopular measures and will probably be fine. The South Dakota gov took the “freedom” route and they have a high death toll. But she’ll probably be ok, politically. So maybe the politicizing is already built in. I dunno. I’m very optimistic overall but the “darkest before the dawn” storyline seems to be the reality bearing down on us.

Newsom will not receive any commupance from anything he does. Its a pretty sweet gig he has. See also: the Governor of NY.

I am not looking forward to Newsom running for President. It'll be harder to avoid his public statements. Boy does he love to hear himself talk.
