Hysteria theater simply switches sides.

Although as it pertains to Covid, I never really understood the arguments that suggest democrats are playing politics with the virus. I’m never happy to defend the party but many democrats have done the unpopular things they needed to do despite the heat they knew they’d take. No response has been perfect but at least here in the northeast, I think they’ve done a fine job so far.
Compare the responses in Florida and California. The two govs couldn't have more different approaches but the results look pretty damn similar to me.
Ok, I’m not arguing that. New York/NorthEast had a unique experience last Spring. Looks like some other places might see what it was like.

All I’m really saying is that Democrats have been more aggressive in issuing restrictions and mandates, despite it being unpopular. It seems unfair to say they’re “politicizing it.” Unless you think their agenda is to use corona to tank the economy and.... [conspiracy theory].
I don't think they're politicizing in the way you're thinking. I think it's closer to someone like Newsome thinking he has to act in order to save lives so just starts throwing shit at the wall. If mitigations fail, you can always blame the people. If you don't act and people continue to die you get the heat and nothing to absolve yourself.
There is a part of me that agrees that people are just throwing shit at the wall to see what sticks. But I think Newson is taking politically unpopular measures and will probably be fine. The South Dakota gov took the “freedom” route and they have a high death toll. But she’ll probably be ok, politically. So maybe the politicizing is already built in. I dunno. I’m very optimistic overall but the “darkest before the dawn” storyline seems to be the reality bearing down on us.
Newsom will not receive any commupance from anything he does. Its a pretty sweet gig he has. See also: the Governor of NY.

I am not looking forward to Newsom running for President. It'll be harder to avoid his public statements. Boy does he love to hear himself talk.
He used to be married to Don Jr's girlfriend. Dude is a clown.
I believe he met his current lady friend when she was a 17 year old server. Classy guy.
Isn't he Pelosi's nephew or something? Politics is basically inbreeding.

Verb
Dunno about that, but the Getty's gave him his start in business, and presumably were very helpful with political networking.

I found this:

Gavin Newsom & Nancy Pelosi aren’t related. Nancy Pelosi married the brother of Ron Pelosi, who was once married to Gavin Newsom’s aunt – Belinda Barbara Newsom. Ron and Belinda divorced in 1977, and Nancy and Paul got married in 1963, so for a brief window of 15 years Nancy was something like an aunt-by-marriage to Gavin.

Wouldn't surprised me if Gavin has had a taste of Nancy too with how incestuous politics is.

So basically just cdc saying wear masks? Ami missing something? The article did say exercise outside with a mask on, which I am not going to do. This reminds me of the latest Fauci puff piece talking about his grueling 18 hour work schedule. Basically, the guy does tv interviews all day saying the same basic shit everyone has known for months. What a warrior.

Maybe he keeps doing interviews in hopes of eventually converting some of the people who say stuff like "I'm not going to do that" when they read an article with recommendations?

Only an idiot would run outside with a mask on unless they were running in a high traffic pedestrian area. When the experts say stuff that is so obviously dumb they lose the anti maskers on the important stuff too. I also would think about maybe turning down an interview or two if I was Fauci. I know the guy means well but I'm just fucking sick of him. I can't imagine what Trumpers must think about him.

I think the tweet is stating that we should have had this 9 months ago

Yeah, the framing tweet didn't help anything, but I don't care to just post the tweet within the frame.

To your point, they generally provided one off statements about what to do to minimize risk as opposed to tradeoffs and if not x than y. The CDC doesn't command the State authorities, but some uniform suggestions (don't put Covid + Patients in nursing homes) might have helped, or at least assisted in litigation for those that went against conventional wisdom.

DeSantis is the media boogeyman, but Florida has done better than NY/ NJ. I don't know how much credit he should get, but I'm pretty sure his policies didn't unecessarily kill huge numbers of nursing home patients. He also hasn't been insufferably self congratulatory. Where is his Emmy?

FL numbers seem better because they have quit making public numbers that would be contradictory to FL being better

Excess deaths will tell all. Maybe you're right, I'm skeptical based on the known atrociously bad NY numbers and the gross difference in press coverage between NY and FL.

And hey, its not entirely fair. People can do things outside in Florida this time of year!

I saw a headline trying to take down the South Dakota lady. It said something like : Noem's grandmother dies in nursing home after covid outbreak!

Her grandmother was apparently 98 and had tested negative. She just died because she was old as shit and the facility happened to be going through an outbreak, which has sadly been common in all states.
