Haven't watched the video yet, but really glad to hear they went the live route. Anything staged would have come off way too cheesy for this song. It needs to stand on its own.

Yeah it's definitely a live take with some overdubbed vocals (like they did with The Fixer of Even Flow).
Ed sounds really good here. This is one of the best showcases of his voice in a long time.

Me too, that was what I first thought of when I saw the song title and that it was more of a power ballad than a rocker.bodysnatcher wrote:I like to imagine "sirens" being mythical songs pulling men into death

I want to know how this video has changed stip's take on the song. He was worried.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Is the free download on the main site (if you bought LB) the same as yesterday's leak?

It....still...sounds like Kelly Clarkson. The live version I mean. Piano is unnecessary (I thought it was BoB in the video and was about to prolapse from every orifice). I think mikes solo sounded better here then what I remember but I'm not about to listen to the studio one to compare and contrast. I had less of an adverse reaction this time but I think that's cause I'm getting used to it (god help me). Felt really long to me.

Same song, but better quality. It's not an alternate take if that's what you mean.Thurman Murman wrote:Is the free download on the main site (if you bought LB) the same as yesterday's leak?
(I could be totally wrong.)

This video version has a live base, but a LOT of edits. Leads me to wonder why they included Matt's flub in the intro... to try and trick people into thinking there are no edits? I dunno, weird.
Don't think Ed is going to be able to nail this live. Hope I'm wrong.

There's such a fine line between a classy ballad in this genre, and something that sounds like a Goo Goo Dolls song or something.
I think they fell on the right side with this one. I'l say it again, Ed sounds superb.

I don't think they did, but I'm glad they tried to ride the line.iceagecoming wrote:There's such a fine line between a classy ballad in this genre, and something that sounds like a Goo Goo Dolls song or something.

TERRIBLE...
I cringe at that solo and echo effect.
Feels like the band is carelessly letting Brendan O'Brien cheese whizz all over them.
Never expected this.
