yeah, i also liked how it looked at lot. I agree with the story, or some characters but it was a cool approach. Had so much fun.Mickey wrote:Yeah it was good. Not a great movie--the brother character was totally illogical--but a fun update on the Wells story and Moss was incredible, as usual. Also, not sure if it's because we just bought a new TV or what but it looked beautiful.VinylGuy wrote:thoughts? I really liked itMickey wrote:Watched The Invisible Man (2020).

Watched A New Hope with my daughter. She seemed to enjoy it, even if she didn't understand a lot of it
Tenet. I liked it just fine, but feel like it might need another watch

The design and mechanics of the inviso-suit, the hallway action scenes, the drab and flat aesthetic with raised black levels -- a lot of it felt like a low-rent version of MCU shit

Tenet.
Jesus, what a mess!!! I think i quit trying to understand it around 20 minutes in. And i just enjoyed the ride, the weird action scenes, the scope of it all.
Its a huge beautiful bloated madness, full of the worst Nolan obsessions that doesnt make sense but never ever stop or relaxes.

Is the worst version of a Nolan film for sure. Still the guys shots at a scope that nobody does it nowadays. Its running time its bloated and the story itself is full with weird confusing moments, but the spectacle is there for sure.

It is time to admit that I made a post shitting on Nolan and Tenet when I was only about halfway through the movie. I ended up actually kind of liking the big climactic sequence it all builds to. Still not a good movie, but not the complete failure it seems like for a long time

Re: What movies are you watching?
I can totally see how someone would hate this movie. Its very flawed. Still Nolan does stuff that nobody does these days. The scope is so fucking huge, its cool to see it.The Argonaut wrote:It is time to admit that I made a post shitting on Nolan and Tenet when I was only about halfway through the movie. The Time Guardians, a weird Russian fantasy movie. Very Del Toro, very good

Re: What movies are you watching?
Maybe it's because I was ripping on it here the other day, but I automatically contrasted it to Zama as a similarly slow, absurd Argentine film set in the frontier during the process of state formation. But I liked it a lot better than Zama--maybe because it was slimmer and had more direction. I don't know if I bought the turn at the end with the like, transhistorical wooden soldier? Mortensen was good. A weird movie I probably won't return to, but not a bad experience.VinylGuy wrote:Oh! thoughts?Mickey wrote:Jauja
