On account of everyone hyping that Fiona Apple record, I took a listen today. I think it’s very good, but I am not sure I am ready to anoint it the next Rubber Soul, let alone best album of the year. But I thought it was good.

Says there guy who freely admits he doesn't like listening to things that people say he should listen to.

That’s the truth. I figured I would give it a whirl even though Fiona Apple is usually not my cup of tea for whatever reason. I wasn’t disappointed - it’s a good album. I’m just not ready to jump on the bandwagon and say it’s the best thing. That is quite predictably me. But I tried and that’s an important step in the right direction.

Oh I am good - not at all offended.

Our different tastes make this place what it is. I can see why you would think that. I do get the claustrophobic feeling in the music, I think from the way the drums and bass are locked in on this album. And normally once I am jaded on an artist I won’t go back - but that’s my own limitations, not anything she did wrong here. It would probably be on a list of albums I enjoyed this year, but I freely admit 2020 belongs to Gigaton. I listened to the hell out of that album.

I do not, but that comes from way back in the 90s when I didn’t care for her early singles. I haven’t really explored beyond that.

The new Blue Oyster Cult live album has a 10 minute version of Last Days of May. I can listen to guitar solos like in that song all day.
