Turns out six people died and it has really been hanging over everyone in this city today. This song seems to have a little added poignancy given the mood around here...
Yikes, I hadn't hear that one yet.
Huffington Post rated it slightly less newsworthy than something Pink had to say about Miley Cyrus.

Played this song for the first time in the office today after 3. Two non-Pearl Jam fans thus spake "Well...the Rolling Stones had 'Angie'". Take that for what it's worth.

Those big drums sound more 80's pop-rock to me than Pink Floyd.

People who compare this to Nickelback have surely never heard actual Nickelback songs.

Even if you don't like it at all, that comparison is totally wrong. It's much closer to something like Peter Cetera.

"The fear goes away" repeating in the ending is the perfect way to cap this song. And I love the restraint Ed exhibits where as in a song like "Come Back" I feel his vocals were too ambitious and frankly very harsh and unappealing. ("COME BACK...COME BACK...COME BACK"). He nailed the drama of the song.

I like chill PJ songs, in fact most of them are my favorites, like Who You Are, Can't Keep, Low Light, Oceans, and Tremor Christ. This however is just not my bag. I'm kinda shocked that the guys that brought us those songs wrote this one. Very strange.

I don't know. I'm just giving you the first impression my ears are giving me.

So far new Pearl Jam is 0-2. I think I might like that "Lighting Bolt" song. I need to hear a better version.

This somehow seems far more likely than The Fixer.

Even if it's pretty fucking unlikely...

They should have gone full on 80s synth reverb purple rain.

We have different takes on what we think about Pink Floyd. I'm not getting that at all, not even a little bit. Now if by Pink Floyd you meant Bon Jovi, then I'd agree.

If you guys started tacking "post-Waters" in front of the band name, you'd get a lot closer.

Pink Floyd was part of 80s rock and has all of the same features except for some cool unusual ones as well.

It's almost like Backspacer never happened. For me this is the album they should've made after S/T.

:ohyeah!:
