Re: Ryan Adams
I haven't seen any major reviews of this album yet. I'm curious to see what they will say. People seem to want to find an excuse to shrug this one off. Will the reviews complain that it's "nothing new" even though this is what they have been begging for from Ryan for years?
If you slapped Jason Isbell's name on this batch of songs people around here would be losing it. It wipes the floor with Reunions. It's a curious thing. Maybe it's the dynamic of the fan artist relationship in 2020? You follow a guy on Instagram and like their charming or funny posts so you feel like you know the artist. So when you find out they stifled the "music career" of their ex wife that feels like something you have real proximity to. Actually, you don't.

He stifled the music career of many women. YOu seem to be shrugging off all the other allegations and bullshit from ryan adams. I think its kind of more interesting how much you are willing to accept with an artist you love than someone who you are indifferent too.verb_to_trust wrote:I haven't seen any major reviews of this album yet. Yeah Im not going to bring up some of the other stuff and make it seem like I'm trying to defend it. The Mandy stuff just strikes me as obviously a product of two people who just don't like each other anymore. Sometimes marriages don't work out. It doesn't mean you get to blame your ex because you're a shitty musician.evenslow wrote:way more to it than mandy, mr. manilow.verb_to_trust wrote:Him being a meanie to Mandy doesn't have anything to do with my transactional relationship with Ryan Adams. Re: Ryan Adams
How great does Benmont Trench sound on Birmingham? If I could cut one song it would be Mamma. Put something a little brighter in its place. Something electric maybe. I think it would really help the sequencing.

Re: Ryan Adams
Mamma is the weak link. It’s a good album, but I am finding it hard to get invested in new music by Mr Adams. This release made me spin random songs and I have to say Come Pick Me Up, Everybody Knows and a few others will continue to be listened to. New stuff, the jury is out but the noting with this release.verb_to_trust wrote:How great does Benmont Trench sound on Birmingham? If I could cut one song it would be Mamma. Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.
