As much as I seem to be a visual person obsessed with texture, I don't care about picture quality at all. I'm nearly as happy with a vcr tape as I am 4k. In some cases more happy.

‪If you know and love Christopher Nolan’s films, you’ll understand this. But his films are going to get worse and worse as they go along. ‬

‪Probably intentionally. ‬
‪Cos he’s a prick like that and this is kinda his thing. ‬

People who think Fight Club is just some satire of masculinity miss so much, and are mostly midwits too afraid to stare into the void.

A few quibbles aside, this does an excellent job of covering the Thus Spoke Zarathustra elements:

In Home Alone, does Kevin ever realize his family went to Paris without him before they all return or does he actually think they disappeared? When he wakes up and he's alone, he sees the car in the garage and thinks they didn't go to the airport, and he even says, "I made my family disappear." Was he planning to just live at home alone for the rest of his life? Did he think it was some sort of magic that eventually would wear off?

I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

No at one point he confides in Marley that they left him behind on their trip to Paris. What is weird is that Marley is fine with this.
He thinks there will be fewer witnesses when he satisfies his bloodlust and murders his son and granddaughter on Christmas morning. That's what he's fine with.

The actual shared American lore is the Western, which is why it crops up in almost everything we do (ala The Mandalorian). I would also say the Gangster film qualifies as well.

What does it mean then to feel totally disassociated from that mythos?
