This was my number one too. 22 spins. 10 the first night. I do like the song.
If I throw out DotC due to pearl jam single release inflation it was Lockless by Greg? Dulli, which in addition to being a great song is about how weird the French Quarter looked during covid lockdown.
Man, fuck 2020

This song belongs in the same category as Do The Evolution in being a crazy band experiment that totally 100% just works.

I just saw the video for Lockless and it's breathtaking. Greg? Dulli's vocals have never been my cup of tea, but the dude can write a friggin' song. I want to learn it on guitar.verb_to_trust wrote:This was my number one too. 22 spins. 10 the first night. I do like the song.

He's doing something pretty weird with his lower register on Lockless. Afghan Whigs are recording during the pandemic. I'm interested to see what elements of Random Desire leak into that batch of songs, especially since it will be Dullis first band release since Dave Rosser died.RockPusher wrote:I just saw the video for Lockless and it's breathtaking. i dont think Evolution sounded all that different when it was released. In My Tree was something totally new to me.

the major difference in DTE was Ed screaming throughout a song; the riffs could've fit on Vitalogy

Re: Dance of the Clairvoyants
As supremely enjoyable as this song is, does any one else find the studio version a bit lacking in energy compared to the All in WA performance?
Hadn't listened to Gigaton for a few months before last night while All in WA has been in regular rotation, and the album version just felt kinda flat. Got me looking forward to actual live performances.

The production on the studio version is fantastic, I don't know about these complaints.
Haven't heard the live version, though

Re: Dance of the Clairvoyants
took a break from this album, then this song comes on yesterday while im shopping. this is a top 10-20 pearl jam song ever. i'm still shocked that they released this in 2020 as the lead single. i dont think a pearl jam song has ever made me want to dance this much, the groove is like earth wind and fire. my god i love this song.
