It's a restrained stadium power ballad. I don't know how they did that but there it is.
I think at least in part it's because Mike's on an acoustic for most of the song.
The really odd think is that the more i listen to it the more "Pearl Jam" this song is.
I agree.
My wife is going to hate this song. She's not excited about new PJ at all, even though she's technically a fan. The Backspacer effect.

Solo = making the move
Loads of tongues to match the excess of the guitar tone.

They better play this in Charlotte because me and chud are gonna slow dance the shit out of this song.
But Chud hates it.

he'll be standing right next to me. He won't have a choice.
I like it. I only wish it could be me.

Good god, team. This is not nearly as bad as you all made it out to be. It's not a classic, pink floydy, or logical successor to Black... but it aint Nickleback either. At worst it's Lifehouse, at best it's Heart. Some awkward and un-PJ lyrics in the verses but the rest is decent and the ending with all of them singing works well and should be cool live.
3 outta 5*
*I've only heard the youtube version, which apparently is not the album version.
