Well, he's an RFA which helps. But yes they will. 2021 free agency is a dumpster fire now, and Riley has a history over overpaying to keep lesser guys than him. I was really referring to the possibility of him being included in a trade to try to get Riley the whale he's always hunting.Monkey_Driven wrote:Dude's gonna make a lot of money when his current deal is up. Good pick. His value seems to rest entirely on Harden staying or the players they'd get back in a Harden trade.bada wrote:Christian Wood

Sigh. I really don't want to. I've probably said this before on here but this feels like the Shaq trade. The '03-'04 team was one of my favorite Heat teams ever. Young, scrappy, exciting with some reliable vets. Wade, Caron Butler, Lamar Odom with Brian Grant and Eddie Jones. I loved that team. They traded Butler, Odom, and Grant for 32 year old Shaq. I obviously get it. They won the chip in '06 and were up 3-2 in the ECF in '05 and probably only lost because Wade got hurt. But I never loved those Shaq teams. I wasn't a fan of him before he came and didn't really become a fan when he got here. I did root for him insofar as helped the team win, though. But Shaq broke down during that '06 run and the Heat spent the next 4 years in the wilderness, so the long term look of that trade isn't that great. A potential Harden trade feels very similar to me.Monkey_Driven wrote:Could you cheer for James Harden?4/5 wrote:Well, he's an RFA which helps. There were rumors the Celts were interested in him and I had already fallen in love before he signed in Houston. So this might be a heart over head pick.

Yeah, I actually like Shaq decently these days. As a 6th grader I got mad that he left the Magic because I liked him and Penny. And then I hated the Lakers when all the MJ fans became Lakers fans as soon as he retired. My dislike for Harden definitely runs deeper.Monkey_Driven wrote: And Shaq is 10X more likeable than Harden...
