I can roll with the punches now. I doubt anything will surprise me and nothing's going to ruin the album if it does. This is old PJ in the sense that I'm going WTF?? Meh, actually, I can deal with that.

Apart from the big rock structure, with drums and everything, the ballad underneath could've been one of the relatively cheesy ones off Binaural.

Looks like the first sessions would have yielded an entirely different beast. One that I would probably preferred. Can't wait for Pendulum, YM, Infallible.
From the Italian site:

Maggio 2011 - Henson Recording Studios, Hollywood, CA
Ed Vedder: vocals, guitars; Stone Gossard - guitar; Mike McCready - guitar, piano; Jeff Ament - bass; Matt Cameron - drum kit, percussion

Olé
Sleeping By Myself
Pendulum
Sirens
Infallible
Swallowed Whole
Yellow Moon

Marzo/Maggio 2013 - Henson Recording Studios, Hollywood, CA

I Pearl Jam hanno registrato le canzoni che faranno parte del decimo disco in studio della band.

Mind Your Manners
Lightning Bolt
Future Days
Pendulum
My Father's Son
Getaway
Sirens
Infallible
Pendulum
Swallowed Whole
Sleeping By Myself
Let The Records Play

OK, it could've been that... to be honest I get confused between this band's country-esque songs. I have to remind myself of the titles all the time.

So this "different beast" would've been an E.P. rather than an album, still including Ole and SBM?

Swallowed whole, LTRP and LB seems the most backspacery to me so far but they were all the second session, eenteresting.

That's all we know that was recorded, I'm sure there were more. And yes it obviously would have been different. I guess if the band had not taken another two years to finish the album and had booked another session quite close to the first session then we would have had a different looking album to the one we have.

And more importantly to me no LB, LTRP, FD or even MYM.

You don't like those? I was assuming by "beast" you meant "much greater album". But I think you were using the phrase in the totally normal way, meaning different thing.

It's not so much that as I appreciate someone who is willing to say it's below average with all the revisionist history going on around here.

It's a good album but I think people have been a little out of control with their praise of it recently.
