That's all we know that was recorded, I'm sure there were more. And yes it obviously would have been different. I guess if the band had not taken another two years to finish the album and had booked another session quite close to the first session then we would have had a different looking album to the one we have.

And more importantly to me no LB, LTRP, FD or even MYM.
You don't like those? I was assuming by "beast" you meant "much greater album". But I think you were using the phrase in the totally normal way, meaning different thing.
No I'm not a fan of those I've mentioned. MYM is better after Getaway in context but still not enough for me.

I assume too that Ole was never going to be on an album so that leaves 6, 5 of which could be the most interesting tracks in years. Just pondering aloud and wondering what might have been. Maybe a Binaural/No Code type album was a real possibility.

Not with Ole and SBM on it it wasn't  FD is not great though, you're right.

I felt that way before and I really feel it now that I've heard half the new album.

I'm thinking that SBM should have been thrown out the same way. But we shall await the album, it may just be perfect in that context.

Is there any chance that they picked all the right tracks for this album? Ie: No Lost Dogs reveal of anything amazing from the sessions that didn't make the cut.

Based on not knowing how the songs actually sound (ie nothing) it looks like right after backspacer they really wanted to do something different but for whatever reason everything got delayed and when they started it back up again they didn't have the desire to make it as different. OR Eddie wasn't on the 'different' train, all his songs are in the second batch after all. OR the remaining songs aren't as weird and wonderful as we've been hearing. And they fit with the others perfectly (please no)

Have I apologized for my initial commentary re: Sirens?

Yeah, I didn't make a fuss but when I heard Ole I quietly got up and left the PJ Saloon for a bit to get some fresh air. That is the worst thing they've ever put to tape IMO.

To be honest I'm just glad they're pushing a little in that direction. One hopes that if they are ever feeling BO'B is sabotaging their attempts that strongly, they'll move on.

I just don't get the Backspacer comments about these songs. They are really nothing like that record except LB. It seems like the hate for BS is carrying over for some. But hey, if you hate the songs then you hate the songs but I don't see a connection beyond the fact that the band is not brooding and/or angry.

Put me somewhere in that camp too. I wouldn't say I don't like it. I ADORE the mood it sets, the great production, the intent (that truly does come across), and the technical and creative chops it took to come up with the tunes. But few of these songs actually get me as high or as low as anything anything else this band has released.
