Me too. My disappointment of not having any hard songs on the album could hinge on whether MFS is good or not. Right now, for as much I like some of the songs, to wait 4 years and get no hard rocking tunes sucks.

If they had at least one awesome hard opener and then maybe Of The Earth, it would have been 14 tracks, and would have been awesome. It's all just mid tempo and it's annoying.

I hope MFS rocks. Nobody can seem to be able to describe it, which could be a good thing or a bad thing.
Binaural is mostly mid-tempo too...
I get the "I want some hard rock" stance (I enjoy me some hard rock), but I don't subscribe to it. If they put out an album of electic, well-written, engaging slow-jam acoustic songs, that's far better than continuing to chug out a sub-par hard rock quota just to give the album a few fast-paced songs.
It sounds a little to me like they had to throw off the obligatory fast-paced songs to get some new ideas...
Maybe. Seems like nowadays their idea of hard rock is Ole, so maybe that's a good thing.

Anyways, I really like Sirens into LB, but into Swallowed Whole also works very well. I find that both work well to bring you up after the emotional tour de force that is Sirens.

Put me somewhere in that camp too. I wouldn't say I don't like it. I ADORE the mood it sets, the great production, the intent (that truly does come across), and the technical and creative chops it took to come up with the tunes. But few of these songs actually get me as high or as low as anything anything else this band has released.
I don't think it's a highs and lows record, it's more of a tempered mood than that, but it's a stunningly crafted thing to listen to.
It sounds really nice but the climax happens in the first track and even that track doesn't climax. Musically it is pretty well crafted but Ed really mails it in. His approach isn't moody or restrained it is just boring.

I don't hate it by any means but it is below average.
It's moody, restrained, bored, all of those things... deliberately. It's a stoner rock record, not a climax record. The mood is perfect, since it was written off the back of Roskilde.

Anyway, I've talked about this a million times.

I wonder if anyone who loves Riot Act actually likes this new stuff or I'm on my own.
I'll also join the I love Riot Act club that likes the new stuff. :bammer:

 love Riot Act. saved my life at the time...
It didn't save my life but it did make my commute better last week after I dusted it off for the first time in a few years. I formally apologize for hating Help, Help as that is a great little song.

Why wouldn't they do a wide release? Seems kinda silly, but certainly not out of character.

I hope that the live version of Sirens becomes an epic thing where Mike extends that middle solo to like a minute. Would be awesome.

I can see the people around me are getting older and they don't have much time on this Earth. I get where they're coming from. Love is precious and fleeting thing.

I can understand if you don't like, that's cool for me. We all have are reasons for liking/not liking a song. Mine are personal for both.

One thing is, this surprised me. I think that's what art is supposed to do. Good or bad.

Let's see how well Sirens stands up in a years time. There are going to be some super embarrassed RMers who've just been caught up in the new album excitement. Remember when Backspacer first came out guys??

That's why right now I'd say it's a 4-star song with 5-star possibility.

Last time I cried upon hearing a new Pj song for the first time, was 'the end'
So backspacer is and always fine with me.

Next time I cried was sirens.

So they're dojng good at making me fell stuff id rather not and proud to be a fan at the same time
