The more I think of it, the boomy toms, the perfectly measured straight drumming in the verses, leading into the 16th notes of the "pre-chorus", are very Pink Floyd as well. I'm not sure whether people have been thinking of rhythm when they've rejected the Pink Floyd references. It gets too open hi-hat in the "chorus" for Floyd, but everything else... It's weird because I'd usually want his playing to be more complex but in a song like this it's perfect.

Ament and Cameron are killing it and the way Cameron is building the song to these wonderful crescendos...

I get total fanboi when they all step up to the mic and lend their vocals to it all....
yeah, that's a really great shot when they're all lined up at the end.

Okay, I'm starting to get pretty into this song
The Sirens vortex :luv:
Spin the Red Circle 8-)

man I was so worried that video was going to ruin the appreciation I was slowly getting for the song. I was certainly never expecting it to so radically bump the song up

- there's a video of the band playing the song live (in a studio, anyway)
- if you pre-ordered the album through 10C you can download Sirens in MP3/FLAC from pearljam.com

Oh, and I like the song; that's clearly news.

Holy shit guys, what the hell.... :haha:

Everyone had me so freaked out that this song was going to be horrendous... or at least that I would need at least 10 listens before I could stomach it... No way, first listen... "Oh ok, this isn't bad... Actually this is pretty good." The second listen actually got a little fist pump out of me...

Let me preface this by saying that I'm not a big fan of PJ ballads/pop songs. At the bottom of my list of PJ songs you'll find things like Small Town, Betterman, Last Kiss, Yellow Ledbetter, Crazy Mary, etc. I'm pretty sure that I already enjoy this more than some of those songs.

Phew... big sigh of relief
