I have a visceral reaction to advertising and promotion. There's just something about salesmanship that grates on me on a very base level and I react very negatively towards it. I want those people to suffer and I want their enterprises to fail.

I felt S3 took a big dip, but S4 started to find its own voice without Louis looming over everything
Just finished season 3. It might have been my favorite, actually. Really looking to season 4 and eventually 5.

It's a pretty standard Netflix show.

Right now I'd say below average. But that's a lot of show left to watch.

Right now it feels like the pitch was: "Ok, so it's like Breaking Bad but without the tension. Oh! And also it's super hard to see and bro-y."

But it has gotten better with each episode and I have a lot left to go. I'm interested to see what happens and I'll definitely finish season one. I don't hate it. But I expected to like it more.

I would say Ozark is, over the course of its run, *significantly* less "bro-y" than Breaking Bad, though it has been a few years since I saw the first season.

It's already shifted that tone a ton from the pilot to episode 4.

"Bro-y" also isn't probably the best word but I can't think of what word I'm looking for.

I think I know what you mean though. Wendy does appear as a shrew/scold/nag in the first half of the first season, getting in the way of Marty and complicating all his cool guy plans to save the family. But like I said, over the course of the show, it departs *significantly* from that framework (whereas, I would argue, Breaking Bad never really did).

Good to know.

I thought BB did a great job of never falling into that trap. But that's for another thread. Either way..

I'll stick with Ozark. Your take coupled with knowing doug really likes it goes a long way.

I'd call Ozark tier-1b tv. Never reaches the BB/Wire/Deadwood level but a strong show overall. Julia Garner is fantastic.
