Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
I don't think it needs a solution as such. It's just the way it is. We're in unchartered territory here aren't we?
I certainly don't think any agency or department should have the ability to order a private company to withhold service, that's for sure.
Like I said, Twitter and FB can do what they see as right. I just wonder what this decision will mean going forward.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
If Twitter and Facebook had blocked him for any of the literally hundreds of threats, personal attacks, or lies over the past year, I would get the “slippery slope” logic. But it took a deadly riot at the Capitol by supporters that he continued to express support for and encourage. It seems super premature to even assume this means anything at all going forward.Higgs wrote:Like I said, Twitter and FB can do what they see as right. I think that the pursuant user response will ultimately dictate future behavior. That is, if their user base doesn’t plummet, and/or they can leverage the appearance of “factually rigorous censorship” into more lucrative revenue streams (pro accounts, payment for Tweets appearing on news programs, things like that), then I imagine they’ll continue down this path.McParadigm wrote:If Twitter and Facebook had blocked him for any of the literally hundreds of threats, personal attacks, or lies over the past year, I would get the “slippery slope” logic. They blocked him once for the bleach stuff last year, but regardless, I agree with your overall point.McParadigm wrote:If Twitter and Facebook had blocked him for any of the literally hundreds of threats, personal attacks, or lies over the past year, I would get the “slippery slope” logic. This right here. This is a huge example of why we have so many radicalized white assholes that are lusting after a civil war.BurtReynolds wrote:Disinformation online is a bigger threat than tech censorship? I couldn't possibly disagree more.
A long road ahead to un-fuck the minds of many who've been listening to right-wing propaganda for 30+ years.

You know I watched the speeches, and they really got to me you know? Like, I realized the politicians, tech CEOs and billionaire donor class just want to keep us safe, you know? They're the good guys. It just really made me realize how pro-establishment I am.

Re: The 45th POTUS - Donald J. Trump
i just read now the Dems are thinking to impeach in the House this week
but then wait to send to the Senate for a few months into Biden’s term so as to focus on the other legislation first
I kind of like that idea
just continuing to hold the impeachment trial as leverage over Trump
if he tries to start shit then the Dems just bring it to the Senate and block his ability to ever run again
