I can't wait to dump to this song.
It hasn't improved at all. I think there'll be people looking back at this moment and saying "Yup...that was the final nail in the coffin for me"

I would definitely say that I like it better than Inside Job, Gone, The Fixer and Just Breathe. ATW has surprisingly been growing on me of late, so I might put it on equal footing with Sirens right now, but Sirens definitely has much more potential as a grower... especially the live version from the video.
This is like ranking the times when your dog shit on your carpet from best to worst.
It's funny because it's true.
Pearl Jam...what have you done?
I keep flitting from thinking its kinda funny and yeah they do whatever they want fuck it, and feeling dissapointed at this blantant grab for 'ze mainstream' like some childish hipster douchebag. Every article/ documentary is gonna have to go 'pearl jam shunned fame and the mainstream so they could do whatever they wanted, how cool, until 2006ish maybe 2009 when they decided they kind of missed all of it *cue fixer, just breathe, sirens*
And for this being mikes showpiece song, mike isnt doing anything particularly memorable.
that's actually something that really kinda puzzles me. This is hardly a track where he stands out

Even though I dont see much talk about Sirens here, I thought I'd purge my thoughts.
Stip wrote a good review, I agree with much of what was said. This is definitely the "anti-Pearl Jam Pearl jam song" and therefore expectations will play a major role in ones enjoyment of it.
My one point of contention with the review is that this song does in fact very much have 80's power ballad trappings in my opinion. Big drum intro, all the piano flourishes, the solo all scream BIG LOVE SONG HERE. Which is basically what it is, a blatant over the top love song. That doesnt make it a bad song, (I actually think Ed sounds good, the lyrics are good and moving) but its definitely not going to appeal to everyone, including me at this point. Its impossible not to compare it to some of their previous work and think "what.. the.. fuck?" Which is what alot of people are probably feeling right now.
And this is coming from a father who can definitely relate to the sentiment of the song. Im just not feeling it. Maybe it'll grow on me. Still hopeful the rest of the album will be good. I really dig MYM.

I blame the song. Surely any thread about it could only descend into anger, mayhem, confusion and misogyny. Thanks a lot pearl jam.
That doesn't make sense to me. But, then again, you are very small.

Yep. It's what made me say "I'll keep the studio version, cheers." He frequently makes those flubs live but they allowed this one into the video... eek.
I don't understand how they didn't correct it in post. It's really easy to do, considering how they seem to have recorded the video.
Maybe they left it in so it's more authentically/obviously live.
that's my guess. Jeff comes in a beat early (or everyone else is late) on the harmonizing at the end.
