Finally got it today and its beautiful. Records are mint and the reason the sleeve was vg+ was because of a very minor cut in the opening and the fact that the price tag tore off a little of the artwork. Barely noticeable. This is probably my best score to date.kreng wrote:scored Mirrorball on discogs last night. $40. graded VG+/NM- and the seller has a good rating.. still a little nervous but if it shows up as promised i think i got a good deal.

Jealous. Mirrorball is probably amazing in this format.

Is it the European pressing from the 2000s? I've seen it at record stores for ~$30, but I haven't pulled the trigger because I don't know how it sounds (afraid it's bootleg-ish).Rangi Guy wrote:How much did you pick up Badmotorfinger for?southp wrote:Latest acquisitions:

$21, latest reissue. Not sure where it was pressed. I'll report back on the quality.
BTW, i had Core and Purple in my hands but put them back on the shelf. It would've been $90 for the two albums and I just couldn't justify that.

That's a lot for Core and Purple. I think I would have done the same....actually I'd have probably just put Core back, told myself how much I'd just saved myself and still got Purplesouthp wrote:Rangi Guy wrote:How much did you pick up Badmotorfinger for?southp wrote:Latest acquisitions:

Listening to Badmotorfinger now. It seems to be a 2003 euro pressing and sounds fantastic.
I would recommend this pressing no problem.

This pressing is fucking shite. Its damn near un-listenable. Lots of distortion in almost all the tracks...
Is that the pressing or is there something else going on?

If it's not dirty, then it may just been over-played. Heavy spinning will wear out the grooves and create distortion.

A new record should never be like that - at least not in my limited experience... Is your needle dirty/not sitting correctly?

Often new records are quite dirty. You might want to clean it...Just a thought before you go messing with your alignment. If it sounds find with other records, it doesn't make sense that it's off for just this one. BTW, is it more on the inner grooves that it's bad or throughout the whole album?cutuphalfdead wrote:Sometimes you just get a bad pressing.Strat wrote:Rangi Guy wrote:A new record should never be like that - at least not in my limited experience... Some songs were worse than others but overall I thought the entire listening experience was painful :\
I wiped it down with solution and the "brush" too...

What does it mean when the inner or outer grooves sound better or worse? I've always thought my outer grooves sounded a little rough compared to the inner...Strat wrote:southp wrote:Often new records are quite dirty.
