If you're really desperate you could attempt to use some bro-science and do the GOMAD diet. Drink a gallon of milk a day and lift like crazy - focusing on compound muscle groups exercises: bench, squats, deadlifts, etc.

You can pack weight on quickly. However this really is a dirty bulk. You might get fat and you might become lactose intolerant. But it does work for a lot of people. Proceed with caution.

i'm here right now...i'm wanting to put on some muscle, but not exactly sure how to balance working out with how much of a calorie surplus i need, how to get those calories without too much junk, and how much protein to consume...i feel like it's going to take a lot of effort and planning to get in enough protein, and that's where i fail

plus i'm such in a calorie deficit or break even mode

When I was in my 20s and trying to put on weight, I’d wake up at 2:30am and drink an protein shake with egg protein powder.

If you’re doing a lot of cardio you could eat whatever. Your body will keep what it needs anyway.

if you’re trying to build muscle too though wouldn’t you still need a lot of protein instead of “whatever”

True. If you’re incorporating cardio, let’s say running, and you’re running every other day, you can afford the calories from foods that aren’t high in protein. Your body will keep what it needs, and dispose of the rest.

I will likely be doing 3 days of running a week once the weather gets better and days get longer, but yeah not now

i’ll probably get lazy with the protein goal and fail anyway

Timely bump.

I had my annual physical this morning and I am down 13 pounds from last year! I have not done anything differently, at least not intentionally. The biggest difference is that I can’t hit the gym on weekends but I do mostly cardio there anyway, hate lifting. I am disappearing. Doc took some blood to run thyroid test. Anyway we agreed that this is likely partially due to the lack of gatherings this year, and with that a significantly reduced alcohol intake. I am too skinny right now though. This is fucking weird and I am feeling like I need to just cram steaks all day.

PS - verb was cheerier 7-8 years ago

Let’s do this.

Except I wear 7 1/2 hat size. My dome is starting to look extra large on my shrinking frame.

What’s the market for that look in male modeling?
