I have those but he intentionally gave us the "original" versions on that set in awful quality, plus weren't they still altered somehow? I know it sounds stupid to complain about quality when I'm talking about watching on VHS, but that DVD copy has always seemed off to me.

They’re the original cuts. No changes I’m aware of but possible.
I love the old grainy genuine look and feel. No alterations.

I’ll watch them over the special editions every time

Absolutely, me too. I guess what I'm really after is the fan-made Despecialized version in HD.

The one I really want is the version of the original movie without the Episode IV. The one is saw in the theater in 1977-78.

I remember now why I never put those on. Terrible 4:3 square format, looks like total ass on today's widescreen HD sets. Guess I need to find an old CRT to hook the DVD player up to!

Find the despecialized editions on the internet somewhere. They are blu-ray quality and are the closest you'll probably get to original.

Is it true that Luke’s lightsaber is green so that it stands out against the Tatoonie sky?
If so that’s kind of a real word practically that makes you unenthusiastically go “oh”.

It’s not that but there was a reason for it to be green. I can’t remember why.

And I’m not breaking out the making of book to find out. Sorry.

Actually dime, I think that is the reason. IIRC, it was so it would stand out better against the blue skies of Tattooine. It was changed fairly late in the production, too.

Are we sure?
Remembering the deleted scene with Luke building the saber (which should have been left in I think)
But either way it’s cool. It added so much to the canon and in nothing but great ways.

I've heard this too.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

It is the most uneven of the OT. But it also has some of the best scenes, and is arguably the most fun.

I also loved it as a kid. Especially all the scenes in the forest.

They’ve changed and cut loads of it.
It’s mental.
I'm curious about this. What's different? I thought the D+ version was unchanged from the 2011 Blu Ray.

Palpatine doesnt die. Instead - he stops throwing lightning bolts at Luke and just tells him "ill be back" and flys out of the death star before it blows up
