Thinking about the time I took my wife to Connecticut (her first trip there), and rambled on and on about meatball grinders. I'd planned on taking her to Little Italy in Hartford, but we never got around to it. Instead, we settled on some random Italian place in New London - where my parents live - on a Sunday afternoon. I can't remember the name of the place, but the meatballs were minuscule, and the bread had sesame seeds on it - WTF - who does that?

I was so embarrassed. I'd talked up this incredible sandwich, and was way, way, underwhelmed. She was too.

I'm surprised she stayed with me after that.
