Most shoes don't start to fail until you get to 4 or 5 hundred miles

I still think about when you called my Bostons toast on Strava while I only had like 60 running miles on them.

I was really into running back in like...2004...and in August I deployed with my guard unit to Uzbekistan. When we arrived the base commander put restrictions on everyone from going off base. I was only there for a few months and the restrictions weren't lifted until after we'd left. I made friends/running partners with a couple guys from West Virginia, one of them a guy in his mid-50s, who could run forever it seemed. The base had a paved path that ran along the perimeter, and we'd go for a run during lunch along that path. One day we were out on a run, far from any buildings or tents, and something squirmed in the road just about 15yds ahead of us. We stopped, and it stopped. Then it popped up and bowed its head out. It was a cobra.

Some of the locals worked on the base, and I'd seen one of them just manhandle a cobra like it was nothing. I am not that guy. Not then. Not ever.

We stood there in the road for a moment, and my partner was like, hey let's just head back. It's been a good run. We slowly backed away, and it took off.

Fortunately, that was my only encounter with a snake on a run since then.

I really appreciate this story. I would back away from a snake much, much quicker than I would a gator. I think our generation was raised to fear cobras specifically. Menacing reptiles.

Similar story here. I ran on some West Texas roads early in the AM last summer. I'm such a wuss that I donned jeans and boots to walk the 200 yards across the brushy landscape around our cabin just to get to the road for fear of rattlesnakes, then shed the layers when I was out in the open. Still saw a baby snake on the highway while running and almost shit myself.

Wuss here.

I would 100 percent do the same thing.

And this is why im never moving out of the mountains.

First it wasn't showing me calories burned, now its only showing the time spent (no elevation info)

I think you just have to change the activity type to sledding or whatever you were doing.

I'm not sure there is any point to what Ive been doing on the treadmill. Verb is going to run 5 miles? Ok, will probably log the same 7:40 pace give or take a few seconds. I could push it more sure, but what I'm doing right now is about my tolerance threshold for the treadmill. It's just so fucking boring.
