We should give up on all of this, and just teach the kids Excel and SQL and Python and Ruby and whatever the new hotness is. They could be prepared for seamless transition from remote school to remote work. We could trade in a useless bachelor's degree for an equivalent of a Cisco cert, but for any of these options and more.

... and not the roughly 2.7 million Palestinians living around them who may have to wait for weeks or months.

Wait weeks for the vaccine? Oh the horror!

Masks be upon them! Arch Cardinal Redfield once proclaimed a single mask to be SUPERIOR to the Holy Elixir. Now imagine if they heed the edict of Lord Fauci (MBUH) and wear double masks....OR THE WHOLE BOX!

NY State is crazy. I’ve lived next door my whole life, it’s fun to visit sometimes, but it’s a weird state. Cuomo and/or their government doing something ridiculous/bad is not surprising.

I feel like New England (Boston & Providence aside, but only for a couple instances) has actually done pretty well. It’s densely populated here unlike many other places, and hit us hard in the beginning, when no one was prepared, but we are ok. I’ve actually had a few republicans in my neighborhood praise our very democratic governor. Only for Covid tho, they still ramble on about gas taxes and socialism.

Judging by the complete lack of any black people at Celtics games, and the larger share of the death totals African Americans account for, maybe it's just down to demographics?

England is experiencing same. They can’t figure out if take up among the black community just isn’t on par or if it isn’t being promoted and distributed Equally.

Wasn't there polling that suggested that confidence/intent to get vaccinated was lower among black people than other racial groups?

yes, due to overall distrust in government and authority, and stuff like the tuskegee experiments. systemic racism, basically.

“When we polled in the District of Columbia, 96% of white, non-Hispanic D.C. residents were willing to accept the vaccine,” Nesbitt said. “Around 93% of D.C. residents who identified as Asian were willing to accept the vaccine, 86% of those who identified as Hispanic or Latinx were willing to accept the vaccine, compared to 61% of those who identified as Black, non-Hispanic or African American.”

Of course. It still might affect the outcomes. Florida seems to be doing a particularly awful job in this regard, though. The process to make an appointment is so convoluted, online only in many places, and multi-website, etc., there’s significant economic and racial gaps rn between those who have been vaccinated and who haven’t.

Look who they are vaccinating. Nurses and teachers and people over 75... i.e. white ladies.

Florida isn’t vaccinating teachers yet. Healthcare workers and 65+.
