I'm all in. Totally cool with the xylophone. It's part of them really fucking going for it.harmless wrote:Except for the xylophone. I don't like that. Maybe it'll make more sense on the album when all the lasers show up.Jaeti wrote:Ditto.harmless wrote:I prefer the studio version.

Guys, they won't sell the video version in MP3 format.

Apparently. I guess it's part of the emotional rollercoaster.verb_to_trust wrote:Is there really a fucking xylophone on this thing?

The melody that plays the song out. With the oo-oo ah-ahs. There's guitar as well but... yeah.

Thing is, I'm torn, because PJ has used all of this before. We just didn't care when they weren't otherwise so slickly produced.

Well, as long as Sigur Ros uses xylophones as well it's not a deal breaker. Actually I think the metal one is a glockenspiel. It's that.verb_to_trust wrote:jesus christ...harmless wrote:verb_to_trust wrote:Is there really a fucking xylophone on this thing?![]()

Don't worry about me, I'm sold anyway. Just saying I don't get the puke reaction when xylophones are mentioned... I don't love it, but they're hardly a prominent feature.Jaeti wrote:Go watch the video and let it bring you back in.harmless wrote:Thing is, I'm torn, because PJ has used all of this before. Re: Lightning Bolt - October 15
Anyone else find it weird that this band that is damn near HoF induction is just making songs to sound like other artists?
"Oh, this is my Dead Kennedys song."
"Oh, that one? That's my Pink Floyd song."
I don't necessarily hate the result, but these songs are more than just influenced. Shit, Roger Waters could take over vocals for Ed on Sirens, and you might not even notice.

Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Maybe this is me not playing really well-versed in Floyd, but I don't hear much of them in Sirens at all. I don't doubt that's where it started, but I don't feel like that's where it ended up.

I'd say its the late 70's/early 80's Floyd. Not the good stuff.digster wrote:Maybe this is me not playing really well-versed in Floyd, but I don't hear much of them in Sirens at all. I don't doubt that's where it started, but I don't feel like that's where it ended up.

This...theyve been doing that big time since ST....I remember when i first heard ST i thought some of it reminded me of Modest Mouse and some other bands that were popular at the time..It seems they are trying to emulate todays popular artists to get back in the spotlight...Its almost like a mid life crisis....I mean theyve ripped bands off before ST but not so blatantly.......B wrote:Anyone else find it weird that this band that is damn near HoF induction is just making songs to sound like other artists?

as long as the songs are good I don't care. Usually they are paying tribute to bands I don't like, but at least I can like the pearl jam version. I feel like I've expanded my horizons just a little bit
