Re: Anybody want a Corona?
First community transmission case in 10 months today. Straight into 5 day lock down.
Here in Western Australia we were getting waay too complacent. Not certain this isn't a needed reminder.
Quarantine hotel worker, uber driver. Had been using the contact tracing app etc. Looks like the UK strain.
Hopefully not too much spread but we'll see I guess. We have to mask up after 6pm tonight for the first time since this all began.
Let's see how we go.

Apparently panic buying has already stripped the stores of toilet paper. Fuck me people are stupid and selfish.

This we are getting reminded of so that someone else might replace Cuomo from the left.
If he really acted out of panic, I would have some sympathy. He is terrible for so many other reasons.

How many linear feet of company TP vs at home TP did you use in the before times?Higgs wrote:Apparently panic buying has already stripped the stores of toilet paper. Fuck me people are stupid and selfish.

I am the company, so it's moot. I do however try to always claim at least 50% of our tp purchases as tax deductions though. Lots of shit gets done at the office...simple schoolboy wrote:How many linear feet of company TP vs at home TP did you use in the before times?Higgs wrote:Apparently panic buying has already stripped the stores of toilet paper. I feel eucalyptus based toilet paper would be quite the ring stinger.

Do you have domestic paper mills? Seems like something you'd outsource to New Guinea or Indonesia or somewhere with lots of rainfall.Higgs wrote:I am the company, so it's moot. We outsource a lot of it to Canada despite having a good stock of coniferous forests with sufficient rainfall.

The panic buying of toilet paper happened here in SA too. It's a weird phenomenon, like some kind of weird cultural meme that bleeds into reality.

Five major companies operate 22 mills across Australia. These mills produce almost 65 per cent of Australia's newsprint requirement, over 30 per cent of our printing and writing paper, over 95 per cent of Australia's industrial packaging and the majority of our tissue and sanitary paper needs.
https://industryedge.com.au/toilet-pape ... 0products.
Australia’s local manufacturers – ABC Tissue, Encore Tissue, Kimberly-Clark Australia and Solaris Paper/The Sorbent Paper Company – produce almost exactly two-thirds of Australia’s tissue products. The remainder is imported, either as very large rolls (converted or cut down to consumer size locally) or fully converted.
In 2018-19, the Australian companies produced 210,000 tonnes of tissue paper. That can rise to around 260,000 tonnes per year.
Imported tissue paper for converting in Australia to finished products, makes up around one-third of the total, with about twenty-five countries providing that supply each year.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
So, the WHO is in China investigating the origins of COVID-19. Who did the WHO pick to go from the US? Why it’s none other than Peter Daszak. Why does this matter? Well, this particular fella is the worlds worst possible candidate. Why?
From the NYPost: “Daszak, as other scientists have pointed out, has a conflict of interest, because he worked closely with Zhengli in her bat research, co-authored scientific papers with her and funneled to the Wuhan Institute part of the $100 million in US government funding he received.”
They have literally sent the guy that was paying for gain-of-function research on bat coronaviruses at the Wuhan lab to investigate the origins of a bat coronavirus that experienced gain-of-function and emerged near the Wuhan lab. Now I know what you are thinking... Petey D... that name rings a bell. Well, it’s because he orchestrated a bit of an information coup early last year as can be seen here:
https://www.theguardian.com/world/2020/ ... rs-experts
A-grade scaremongering with one key revelation: the author of the oft-cited piece in the Lancet from 27 experts asserting that Covid-19 has must have natural origins was... you guessed it: Peter Daszak. Fun side note: four of the other signatories are employees or board members of Peter’s company.

We will never know the validity of that stuff, but the Lancet’s COVID-19 commission has some interesting folks on it including... wait for it... wait...simple schoolboy wrote:Did they ever figure out who was behind those two large fake studies that claimed a massive hospital database to poo-poo Hydroxychloroquine?Bi_3 wrote:So, the WHO is in China investigating the origins of COVID-19.
