yeah I was doing this math yesterday and came up with about 100 million immune, between already infected/recovered and vaccinated.BurtReynolds wrote:https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-9201737/Coronavirus-infections-plummeted-30-three-weeks.html

same to you and your family as MD.Wendy Carlos's Twin wrote:Yup. My brother caught it and he is in a very bad way too.Monkey_Driven wrote:My dad tested positive on January 6 and has been on a ventilator for 15 days due to COVID-19 pneumonia and the extensive damage to his lungs. He's having a tracheotomy today to replace the traditional ventilator, which will hopefully lead to a faster weaning process. He's 59, in pretty good shape, and had no pre-existing conditions. The doctors said he about a 20-30 percent chance of surviving two weeks ago, but he has been holding steady since. We are hopeful he will recover in the next few weeks based on the progress he's made.
This thing is scary, completely unpredictable, and the recovery for those who have the most severe symptoms is long and grueling.
Same history as your father except he is only 35.
Thankfully, things started to turn around for him on Monday and he is slowly improving.
My father, sister-in-law and neices have it too but they are doing fine.

The Russian vaccine is safe and 92% effective: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-55900622
This is great news for me because that's the vaccine that the Argentinian government is importing. I was considering traveling to Colombia to get the Pfizer vaccine instead but I'm more at ease now

My wife's niece got COVID and her first symptom was puking on camera during her 1st-grade distance learning.

Nah, they have their own pharma/ vaccine industry, no need to steal anything. I think Sputnik is a more conventional vaccine than the mRNA ones, so probably easier to store.96583UP wrote:amazing what science can achieve when you hack other nations’ computers and steal their intellectual propertyPeeps wrote:Jorge wrote:The Russian vaccine is safe and 92% effective: https://www.bbc.com/news/health-55900622

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
So we went into lockdown because of 1 case. No further community transmission over the next 5 days, restrictions eased again at 6pm tonight.Higgs wrote:First community transmission case in 10 months today. Straight into 5 day lock down.
Here in Western Australia we were getting waay too complacent. Not certain this isn't a needed reminder.
Quarantine hotel worker, uber driver. Had been using the contact tracing app etc. Looks like the UK strain.
Hopefully not too much spread but we'll see I guess. We have to mask up after 6pm tonight for the first time since this all began.
Let's see how we go.
We got off easy it seems. Masks now mandatory moving forward and as a bonus people have started to once again respect the 1.5m social distancing requirement.

Free boops today.

All good news. Better to lockdown fast and hard than regret it next week.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
This is a weird thing I have, I don't know if other people think this way. If someone's not related to me by blood, I wouldn't call them "my niece/nephew." My wife has three nieces, and they all call me "Uncle ST," but in my mind they're not my nieces. Same with my nephew--in my mind he's my nephew, not my wife's, even though she's "Auntie ST's wife" (my kids are my brother's niece/nephew's, but not my sister-in-law's, etc.). Is that weird? Do other people not refer to their family that way?knee tunes wrote:Why isn't she your niece ?Simple Torture wrote:My wife's niece got COVID and her first symptom was puking on camera during her 1st-grade distance learning.

I consider my brother-in-law's kid my nephew, you heartless dicks.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Hah, my first thought when reading was also “does he mean his nieces/nephews?” We all have some odd ways of thinking, but yes, kind of weird. I assume by your post that they don’t know? I would guess you probably shouldn’t tell them?Simple Torture wrote:This is a weird thing I have, I don't know if other people think this way. I mean, I do kind of get it. I have 2 nephews that I met when they were in high school, like 10 years younger than me. It’s hard to see them that way, I sometimes forget and think they’re cousins.

Re: Anybody want a Corona?
I barely even think of my brothers kids as nieces and nephews let alone my wife’s brothers kids. To be honest they’re my kids cousins.Birds in Hell wrote:Me too.E.H.
