Why? They can most certainly be mutually exclusive. I can acknowledge the fact that Bob Dylan is one of the greatest artists of all time, but he’s nowhere near one of my favorites.
Some would say that there isn't a difference between "favorite" and "best." It's all subjective. Jorge and LV have fought this battle multiple times here in pages of RM.

But there is a difference. I just illustrated that.

Eh, it's nuanced, if by "greatest artists of all time" you're talking about influence and overall "importance" then yeah but isn't that a really boring list to try and put together?

Potentially. But it definitely would be a different list than my personal all-time favorites list.

No. I don’t subscribe to this line of thinking. It’s like Bruce Springsteen. Most would consider him one of the best ever. I do not. Other than a handful of songs, I don’t care for him at all. And don’t think he’s all that great.

It's why I used the word "Top". Favorite means one thing...Best means another. "Top" doesn't really mean anything, so you can do whatever you want with it.
