when we traveled through the UK last fall, pretty much every restaurant/pub had mac and cheese on the menu.

I did some quick research, and it appears the first instances of mac and cheese date back to 14th century England. :shock:

Thought modern 20th century, it’s definitely more associated with America. Depression food.

Still, I’ll call it a food trend in the UK, because it was noticeably everywhere - and at higher end restaurants you wouldn’t normally think to see it - more so than during past visits.
