Jfc, Argo, are you even going to spellcheck them? Do votes for John Lennon and John Lennnon get counted separately?

Re: RM Top 100 Artists (accepting your lists now)
I am doing that in a systematic way. I even built a macro so if a band name starts with "the" it will delete the "the" so the alphabetized list won't be messed up. I am checking it myself, too. The data will be clean, that I pledge.Simple Torture wrote:Jfc, Argo, are you even going to spellcheck them? Do votes for John Lennon and John Lennnon get counted separately?
I just don't want to be the arbiter of what counts as a different artist. There are too many

lol this is not trueThe Argonaut wrote:It's not safe. Last time I used Google Forms for something like this, Balki spent somewhere in the neighborhood of eight hours generating false data and sabotaging it. It was the beginning of the end of my reputation around here. I'm keeping everything in-house.washing machine wrote:Argo, have you considered using Google Forms for this?

I do think there should be an exception for Tom Petty vs Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. The Argonaut wrote:I am doing that in a systematic way. I had the same thought but I wasn't gonna say anything.Norris wrote:I do think there should be an exception for Tom Petty vs Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers. The Argonaut wrote:I am doing that in a systematic way. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are obviously better than Tom Petty. I'm honestly not sure what sort of depraved maniac would vote for Tom Petty as a solo artist hahahahahaha

Full Moon Fever, Wildflowers, and Highway Companion are three of my favorite Petty releases. Also, aren't some (most?) of The Heartbreakers featured on those solo albums? The Argonaut wrote:Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers are obviously better than Tom Petty. Yeah but Tom Petty solo records are still essentially TPatHB albums. In fact, the best one is technically solo but not really.

This was precisely my point and it also extends to Bruce Springsteen for nearly all of his career except the 1990s.epilogue wrote:Full Moon Fever, Wildflowers, and Highway Companion are three of my favorite Petty releases. Also, some of Petty’s best work was technically solo. Full Moon Fever and Wildflowers are both A+ albums nearly front to back, and Highway Companion is at worst a B+ album that is the segue leading into his final set of Heartbreakers albums (Mojo & Hypnotic Eye). They all I believe include Mike Campbell at all times and included other Heartbreakers individually on the tracks but not always all together.

already found two discrepancies. One person misspelled "Creedence" and another didn't put the dash between Wu and Tang. This is funSimple Torture wrote:Jfc, Argo, are you even going to spellcheck them? Do votes for John Lennon and John Lennnon get counted separately?

I want you to know that I am joking about giving you a hard time and that I appreciate you running this. I know how much of a pain it can be running something with this group of orangutans. The Argonaut wrote:already found two discrepancies. That there sounds like a vote for Creed, actually. The Argonaut wrote:already found two discrepancies. One person misspelled "Creedence" and another didn't put the dash between Wu and Tang. Re: RM Top 100 Artists (accepting your lists now)
The RM Hall of Fame has been pulled off successfully twice, both times muscled through thanks to the sheer force of my will and my conviction that it is a valuable part of RM. I'm less emotionally invested in this project, but so far it is going wellE.H. Ruddock wrote:This is the RM hall of fame all over again
