 okay that's a fair point. I just love the Smashing Pumpkins Deluxe extras so much that I cannot fathom preferring they be left off. I guess most artists don't put the same level of care into such releases, though.

hmmm, never listened, but now i'm going to check it now. i enjoy the second album, The Man Who...a lot.
They released an album just last year "10 Songs". Not on anyone's best of lists but not bad.

The worst thing is artists/record labels replacing the original version of albums with remasters without the original version being available anymore. Looking at you Tom Waits... Most new Tom Waits fan will now probably think Real Gone is supposed to sound like that.

100%
Just put it on a second disc rather than try to fill the entire 74/80 minutes of the CD.

Agreed. I'm fine with new mixes/masters just don't erase the originals when you put out the new ones. It's not like there isn't plenty of room for both.

If you care enough about the artist, you will find the original masters or mixes or whatever.

Totally. And I do when I can. But they aren't always available in a convenient format.

Like I have the original Real Gone in vinyl. But sometimes I want to listen to it while I'm out and about.

I found Real Gone album by Tom Waits on Spotify without any extras on it.
Think I’m going to try being kind to everyone a chance.

But it is the remaster I believe.

In the age of streaming and getting music for basically free, I'm not sure this is much of a gripe. You can always buy a cd if you never want to lose access to that iteration of the album.

But Joe wants the original master on tap while he's bopping around town, plus you'd have to find a way to stream your own collection unless you add the files to your device manually before heading out and that just throws convenience out the window and possibly an additional cost, I mean...

Idunno, the way I made it sound seemed awfully tedious.

All Joe was saying is that it would be better if the original version was also up on the streaming sites, and he's right. Not that it's completely impossible to listen to it.

There’s like 19 people in the entire world who want that. Doesn’t seem worth the effort.

Probably more people than were clamoring for a new version of Real Gone with fucking horns added
