Numbers,

You aren't really accounting for automation. Why pay meat sleeves more when you can just buy a robot?

Sure but on a long enough timeline the robots pay for themselves
in some cases

robots require servicing, spare parts, are very capital intensive - then within a few years they are obsolete

humans are cheap, can be pushed around, lied to, and sent in to die - and then you just replace them with another one
