Resident Evil 2 Remastered

Uh hello? How can you not play this? RE2 is probably my favorite installment of the RE series and the new remake is great so far.

I plan to play it some time this spring. Pretty excited to try it.

Shat myself when Mr. X showed up. This game is better than the original. Cannot recommend it enough.

Yeah I was encouraging folks to try it out in the Upcoming games thread. I'm still trying to finish up Red Dead but this is my next stop. Was a big fan of RE2 roughly 20 years ago so I'm stoked to see the modern version. The reviews were way more positive than I expected too. Sounds cliche but I'm really glad Capcom is returning to the survival horror roots because the RE series had about over a decade of pretty shitty games.

Yeah I never played any RE games after 4, I remember watching one of my friends play 6 whenever that came out and it seemed pretty weak compared to the older installments.

Heavily considering trading in Assasin's Creed Odyssey towards this.

Yeah I found the hardest thing for me personally to get past over the years is the cheesy dialog/voice acting. Sounds like the horror elements have been brought back to the series in full form though. Other than the game being on the short side (according to the reviews), I haven't heard any other negative thing about it. I'm hoping they stick to this formula for the next remake, or better yet, for RE8.

The Tyrant is equal parts annoying and terrifying.

Last night I popped the third medallion into the statue and gained access to the underground tunnel out of RCPD. There's a cutscene, then I'm forced into the tunnel with the door behind locked shut. Can I return to the RCPD at a later time? I've explored everything I can given my current inventory, but there are still a few rooms I wasn't able to enter yet.
Yes you will return to RCPD once you get through the underground portion. I should note though that depending on which character you chose there are certain rooms in RCPD that you won't gain access to.

I didn't play the remaster, but you couldn't re-explore the entire world in the OG. I don't remember the cut off points.

This may be my next venture. I only ever played one RE game and it was for the gamecube. I had mixed feelings about it. I'll delve into this one because of all the positive reviews.
