It's because the Batman isn't an act or an attempt to disguise himself. He's an insane person, which Joker correctly points out.

well... what i mean is that the people making the movie don't let on that it's weird at all.. as if we're supposed to think it's just badass or something.. i'd like to see a little coen bros. weirdness or something... i don't think nolan has a sense of humor.. whenever he does try to be funny it's in the form of "I gotta get me one of these! it's kinda hit and miss... i think it would've benefited from someone younger in deniro's role... an armie hammer or channing tatum maybe.. and would've liked to see deniro in pesci's role .. and pesci still somewhere else maybe.. maybe in harvey keitel's role.. just have to add some youth, shuffle the cards and it could've been better
