I have to admit, I'm not a fan of the reasoning behind "you've got to be in that type of relationship for it not to be cheesy." I think it's kind of a knock on the song if it needs to be that exclusionary to thrive.

Same. I find it great for other reasons than the subject of love.

And a live version of LBC, I think from one of those Seattle 2002 warm up shows. Probably the one that was released on DVD.

According to the LBC cd single I have in my hand right now that seems to be correct.

To be clear, I meant I changed from option 3 to option 1 and not from 3 stars to 1 star. The things that put me off the song slowly disappear the more I listen to the song. It's strange Pearl Jam magic. The first few times I only concentrated on how the song sounds like and what it reminded me of and all of that just confused me. My brain somehow managed to ignore all of that and looking only listening to the songwriting itself I kinda like it. I might even begin to really like it. It's weird and I can't explain it that well.

Oh, and a little anecdote. Me and my best friend are long time Pearl Jam fans and we both were equally confused about the song (He still is I think.) and we celebrated the birthday of another friend two days ago. We were sitting around drinking beer when the video was uploaded and decided to watch it. One of our non-fan friends couldn't understand why we thought the song was so irritating. He really liked it and thought it was a welcome change for the band. The girlfriend of my friend thinks it's one of Pearl Jams best songs and really likes it even though she normally dislikes most of their output.

It successfully crosses fanbases, which ain't a bad thing even though it might confuse the fuck out of us.

I love the "It's a fragile thing" part. (Isn't it cool how fragile he sings "thing"?)

I'm drinking so my answers might be short. I'm also listening to The Mynabirds, which is a useful distraction from the Lightning Bolt furore.

You either like a song (or album) or you don't. Sure, this can change "a bit". Certain songs may grow more favorable. But, trying to say that your opinion completely changed is a fanboi cop out.

For all those who say this about any thing PJ,.... grow a set...

....of opinion balls.

You must either be really young or completely joking here.

You're saying you've never initially disliked or were indifferent towards an album but later grew to enjoy it, or it hit you at a different point in your life/maturity? Never?

I never liked more than a couple of songs on Binaural for YEARS. I thought it was boring, muddy and just lacking. Just recently, after giving it a few more good listens with a good pair of headphones and FLAC files, it just hit me. I think it's amazing now on so many levels that would take a few paragraphs to explain. You can't tell me for a second that this has anything to do with other people's opinions influencing me or me wanting to be cool or a 'fanboy'. That's utter bullshit.

Don't worry. It's just his schtick. Logic and reasoning are cop outs.
There's the dog. You can't fake that stuff. Confess with your mouth.
