isn't it his job to represent the teachers' interests, not his own?

Did you read it or stop at the headline?

 at the infinite power of the local teacher's union president!

He can't even convince the teachers to go back despite obviously wanting in-person education.
Everything's perfectly all right now. We're fine. We're all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?

Oh, I have no problem saying that he's a hypocrite, but Bi's assertion that a Union President is keeping kids of out school to increase his mighty power is laughable.

I was asserting that he was lying about the pandemic to gain concessions for his union at the expense of the students.

I didn't read through the whole article, but did it say what they're requesting, b/c THAT's when I come down on the union.

Are they asking for plexiglass screens? Good. Strong-arm the district for plexiglass screens.

Are they asking for full student-body vaccination? Not so hot.

All of this assumes that it's good for teachers to be at home teaching virtually. It fucking sucks to be a digital teacher. If the plan for re-entry is so bad that teachers won't accept the risk to get the fuck out from behind their computer, then the plan sucks donkey dick.

My kids have been in full time, in person school since September, without issue, and I lean that way. Our town did a survey and 83% were in favor of sending kids into school. That said, it doesn't seem to be only teachers on one side. Much of the public seems to be on their side, too.

We are very close to the end of the teachers needing to be vaccinated timeline. By the end of March they are going to be begging people to take the vaccine to get rid of supply. I wonder if there will still be push back on the school stuff then?

Our government has botched the vaccine procurement so bad. They have thrown the "my body, my choice" notion out the window but saying you will get the vaccine they tell you you get (meaning the far less effective AstraZeneca) because our PM, the blackface, soxed wonder absolutely botched procuring Pfizer and Moderna so badly that we basically have none. Also, the second shot will be given an untested four months later. What fucking idiots.

Un the distribution side, our government has botched this as well. For the first month you will have to sign up by telephone because the website will not be ready until April. The only excuse for not having this ready is "we don't care about you". Private sector you'd be fired for such incompetence.

Canada's chief science adviser issues warning about B.C.'s 'experiment' with vaccine timing

British Columbia's decision to extend to four months the interval between first and second doses of three different vaccines amounts to a "population level experiment," said Mona Nemer, Canada's chief science adviser.

Nemer told host Vassy Kapelos that the data provided so far by Moderna and Pfizer on their vaccines were gathered when the first and second doses of the vaccines were being spaced three to four weeks apart, not three to four months apart.

As of March 1, however, the advice NACI (National Advisory Committee on Immunization) is providing on its website says that the interval between the first and second shots of the Moderna vaccine should be four weeks, the interval for Pfizer should be three weeks and the interval for the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine should be 12 weeks.

My provincial health authority at work. They have stopped relying on science and have started making shit up in the name of science.
